Raising Church Planters
A New Generation of Disciples
A Story from Lloyd Kim
What is needed to fuel a church planting movement? Church planters. But how do we find church planters? We need to raise them up, train them up, and send them out. This is the reasoning behind the development of a new residential Bible School in Vn. Our modular training which we have been doing for the past eight years was directed more toward those who were already actively involved in planting a church...but these churches are now raising up young people who have a heart to plant new churches. This new generation of future church leaders have more time to dedicate in preparing for future ministry and have been asking for more in-depth training.
The past several months, Professor Joel Kim from Westminster Seminary in California, Pastor Andy Park from Living Faith Chapel, Missionary Tim Lim, our national partners, and myself have been working together to get this new school off the ground and running. It has been a true collaboration between folks in the States, missionaries on the ground, and our national partners. What we came up with was much better than anything we could have done individually. The idea behind the Southeast Asia Partnership really works!
The first day of class was September 9th. Over 15 young, eager students gathered together for their Bible Survey class. The teacher was Rev. B. He is a graduate of our modular program and one of the first to be ordained in the Presbyterian Church in Vn. What an incredible blessing to see former students taking up the mantle and passing on lessons learned to a new generation of disciples!
